That sounds like pretty much every single persons day one experience. Piling dead corpses on the cart and wheeling them by hand to the village and selling them to the token for coin. One thing that's amusing and a neat mechanic is we feel like the Undertaker back in those times.

Just been grinding skills and running back to town for water from the well since we are well past our noobie free refreshment period.

My friend is playing with me more and once we figured out a few things and got a cart up so we could pull it with it full of iron ore, we can't stop playing. Maybe if I could get some answers or a better explanation to some of my problems above I might give it another go but that just felt like a wasted Saturday 😭Įdit: As of July 22 still playing and liking it more. Why? Don't you need tools and all to chop down trees and get resources? We were pretty bored at that point so we just logged off without even going back to get our bodies but how are you supposed to get tools if the game took your starter ones? Usually my character drops a couple items and that's it but the last time I died I had zero inventory. Oh and the last time I died it didn't respawn me with a single item on my character. And now I have been marked permanently as kill on sight by the game anywhere I go even when I have it set to obey laws? I waited for a while to see if after time it went away but it didn't. We couldn't get their attention so I attacked them. Is it really like that?Īnd last thing I can think of our session is while we were on the pvp server at that players farm. Why? PvP sounds brutal if some noobs like us could just walk into your place and take what we wanted.

And their gate even opened up automatically. We could even sail off in their boat if we had the skills for it. And it was going to let us kill them if we wanted to. We found a farm and they had a ton of horses. PvP is almost too easy to ruin someone's property. And I guess we just portaled there? But it also automatically put us in a Kingdom which I believe is like a guild or something. After the tutorial we wanted to try out pvp cause we always play pvp servers. The game kept telling us we mined an ore but we never got any ores or anything from mining added into our inventory even though the event chat said we found some after we were done swinging. We also found a few mines and tried that out. And never once saw that plant or anything close to it in the world. Even used the wiki to see where to get it from. In our all day of playing session, we found zero fiber. But then we needed fiber or something to make the string on the bow. We thought hmm maybe a bow would be the easiest thing to craft. Like when you first start out there is zero guidance which is fine but with a million crafting recipes we couldn't figure out the first thing to craft to start leveling our skills up and getting past the starter tools and weapons.

The tutorial only showed you how to cut wood and logs, make a campfire, and mine ore. We couldn't even figure out how to progress resource wise. I've seen comments where people say they run villages and all this cool stuff but you can't even find them. You have no clue where you are on the map so a compass is pretty much useless.

And couldn't figure out where we even wanted to go. We probably put in a good 6 or more hours in. Right clicking never gave me an option to taunt and it wasn't on the window that let's you choose where to attack, your footing, etc. And then when I found out the UI was customizable in the Live Preview client I tried it and then I was never able to taunt again. But I always had the option to taunt in the main client. Everquest 1 combat was similar so no stranger to the slow combat or the skills system. The first time I tried swimming it worked fine though but anytime after that my character would look straight up and throw his arms around furiously while in the water. It looks like you're moving forward while drowning. But the landscape looked ugly and character movement was just awful. I guess some of it had to do with the graphics of the land. It wasn't the slowness or the grind that threw me off. Wanted to try it out before the Steam Launch so I'd know what I was doing if I ended up playing it. I tried out Wurm all day yesterday and sadly couldn't do it.
